Barragán Rugs

The result of a multi-year collaborative research project with Casa Luis Barragán, the “Barragán Rugs” recover a lost technique — a Mexican (but very possibly Turkish-inspired) hand-knotted rug that the architect Luis Barragan had selected for wool floor coverings in his own home.

Years of visitors had taken their toll on areas of the floor in Casa Luis Barragan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and txt.ure is honored to have been responsible for the restoration of these pieces as well as the revival of the unique technique behind these historically significant rugs. Working with the original workshop that made the works for Casa Barragan, txt.ure introduces color variation to these luxurious floor coverings of enduring value.
